Corporations have taken over democracies because government bodies think of themselves as Corporations. Governments should be rule-setters and enforcers -not players.

A modern economy is divided into the "investors" or the financial businesses; and on the other side are the "consumers". The investors have taken control because they take all the profits from transactions. They fail to share with the consumers who worked to supply the money for both the goods and the profits. A step in making democracies work is for banks, to share the profits on loans - not by halving interest rates - but by repaying faster through sharing the profit.
